Cookie Policy
The cookies used on the Falkirk Islamic Centre website, why we use them and how you can control them.
Last updated: 29 October 2026This Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the Falkirk Islamic Centre website, why they are used and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website saves in your browser. Similar technologies, such as browser storage, work in the same way. They let a website remember information between pages or visits.
Some cookies are set by our website. Others are set by services we use, such as our payment provider.
Our approach
We only use cookies that are strictly necessary to run the website, keep it secure, take donations safely and let volunteers sign in.
We do not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies, and we do not use cookies to build a profile of you.
Because strictly necessary cookies are needed for the website to work, they do not require your consent. If we ever add cookies that are not strictly necessary, we will ask for your permission first and update this policy.
Cookies we use
Donations
Our donation form is available from every page, so these cookies may be set on any page you visit.
- charitable_session: remembers your donation details while you complete the donation form. Set by our donation system. Expires after a few hours.
- __stripe_mid: helps our payment provider, Stripe, prevent fraud and keep card payments secure. Expires after one year.
- __stripe_sid: helps Stripe prevent fraud during your current visit. Expires after 30 minutes.
Spam and abuse protection
We use Google reCAPTCHA on our donation and enquiry forms to detect spam and automated abuse. Stripe also uses hCaptcha to detect automated payment attempts. These services may set their own cookies or read information from your browser, such as your IP address and device information, to tell people apart from automated programs.
- _GRECAPTCHA: set by Google reCAPTCHA to provide its risk analysis. Expires after six months.
Volunteer sign-in
These cookies are only set if you sign in to Content Studio, our private area for approved volunteers. Most visitors will never receive them.
- wordpress_test_cookie: checks that your browser accepts cookies before you sign in. Expires when you close your browser.
- wordpress_logged_in_ and wordpress_sec_: keep you signed in and protect your account. Expire when you close your browser, or after 14 days if you choose to stay signed in.
- wp-settings-: remembers display preferences for site administrators. Expires after one year.
Signing in with Google may also set short-lived cookies from Google during the sign-in process.
Videos
Khutbah videos are provided by YouTube. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode, and a video is only loaded when you choose to play it. Once you press play, YouTube may store information in your browser under its own privacy policy.
Third-party services
Stripe, Google and YouTube are responsible for the cookies they set and for how they use the information they collect. You can find out more in their privacy policies:
- Stripe privacy policy
- Google privacy policy, which also covers reCAPTCHA and YouTube
- hCaptcha privacy policy
Managing cookies
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies in their settings. Your browser’s help pages explain how.
If you block the cookies on this page, parts of the website may not work. In particular, you may not be able to make a donation, send us an enquiry or, for volunteers, sign in.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when the services we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
