Ensuring all students have a solid understanding of the daily fard worship (often referred to as the five pillars of Islam).
Children and young people have been learning the Qur’an and studying Islam at Falkirk Islamic Centre since the masjid was established. Today, more than 100 students attend our Madrasah.
Over and above teaching the recitation of the Qur’an, the Madrasah’s primary aim is to strengthen our children’s identity as Muslims and give them the confidence to practise their religion within the diverse and modern world we live in.
We aim to give the children the tools and knowledge to distinguish between the Halal and Haram, be responsible members of the wider community, develop good character and project the true and positive image of Islam.
Children study Qa’idah, Qur’an and Islamic Studies. We use the Islamic Curriculum from An-Nasihah Publications for Islamic Studies and Safar Publications’ Qa’idah books for Qa’idah and Tajweed.
The Madrasah programme delivers age-appropriate lessons split across the following areas:
Ensuring all students have a solid understanding of the daily fard worship (often referred to as the five pillars of Islam).
Explaining Islam in a historical context through historical events and the Seerah.
Helping students understand their place in society, and their obligations to family, community and the wider social environment.
Equipping students with an understanding of good character traits, helping them navigate conflicts and make moral decisions when interacting outside the home or masjid.
The Madrasah programme places a strong emphasis on teaching the rules of pronunciation (Tajweed), ensuring students are able to read the Qur’an fluently and precisely. This is accomplished through the Qa’idah programme, which for a typical student is a two-year process.
After completing the Qa’idah and Qur’an, students may move to the Hifz programme. Depending on their desire and commitment, they may choose to memorise a portion of the Qur’an, such as the key Surahs, the complete 30th Juz or the entire Qur’an.
The Falkirk Islamic Centre Madrasah uses the renowned ‘Safar Academy Learn to Read’ Qa’idah, which is taught in many madrasahs in the UK. The Qa’idah has been developed from the ground up, is delivered in a modern format and brings together the best of various Qa’idahs from around the world. Typically, it is delivered over a two-year period.
The Qa’idah is delivered in structured levels, allowing teachers and parents to assess and track a student’s progress while breaking down the key rules of Qur’anic recitation into manageable lessons.
By the time a student completes the Qa’idah, they should be able to fluently recognise and confidently read ayats from any Surah of the Qur’an.
Children in our standard programme attend three days a week for two hours each day. We currently run two standard sessions:
The Madrasah team assigns each child’s class and attendance days as part of enrolment.
£30per child per month
£25 one-off payment
Once your child’s enrolment is confirmed, a one-off payment of £25 covers their Madrasah bag and essential learning materials, including books and either a Qa’idah or a copy of the Qur’an, depending on their class. Children receive their bag and materials after enrolment and payment.
Complete the online registration form with your child’s details. This adds your child to the waiting list. A place is confirmed separately.
Before a new session starts, the team contacts parents on the waiting list to arrange an admissions meeting.
At the meeting, the team explains the Madrasah programme and assesses your child’s current level. The team then assigns your child’s class and attendance days.
