Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply when using the Falkirk Islamic Centre website, online forms, services information and donation pages.
Last updated: 4 July 2026These terms and conditions govern your use of the Falkirk Islamic Centre website. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms.
Please read them carefully. If you do not agree with these terms, you should stop using the website.
About us
This website is operated by Falkirk Islamic Centre, a Scottish registered charity.
In these terms, references to “Falkirk Islamic Centre”, “the Centre”, “we”, “us” or “our” mean Falkirk Islamic Centre.
Using this website
You may use this website for lawful, personal and non-commercial purposes.
You must not:
- use the website in any unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or harmful way;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website, its server, databases or connected systems;
- introduce viruses, malicious code or other harmful material;
- interfere with the normal operation or security of the website;
- use automated systems to extract website content without our permission;
- submit false, misleading, threatening, discriminatory or offensive information through our forms; or
- impersonate another person or provide someone else’s personal information without authority.
We may restrict or block access to the website where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached or the website is being misused.
Website information
We aim to keep the information on this website accurate, clear and up to date. However, information may occasionally be incomplete, outdated or contain errors.
Website content is provided for general information only. It should not be treated as professional, legal, medical, financial or other specialist advice.
Where appropriate, you should seek advice from a suitably qualified professional before acting on information provided through the website.
We may update, correct, remove or change website content at any time without notice.
Prayer times, Islamic dates and announcements
Prayer times, congregation times, Ramadan timetables, Eid announcements and Islamic dates may be based on local calculations, observations, scholarly guidance or decisions made by the Centre.
Although we take reasonable care when publishing this information:
- times and dates may change;
- technical errors or delays may occur;
- different mosques or organisations may follow different methods; and
- urgent changes may be announced through the Centre’s other communication channels.
For important occasions, including Eid prayers, Ramadan programmes and changes caused by weather or other exceptional circumstances, visitors should check the latest Centre announcements before travelling.
Religious information and enquiries
Religious articles, khutbahs, answers, educational materials and other Islamic content are provided for general guidance and community benefit.
Religious rulings and advice can depend on an individual’s circumstances. General website content should not be treated as a personalised fatwa or a substitute for speaking directly with a suitably qualified scholar.
Submitting a question through the website does not guarantee a response within a particular period. We may decline to answer questions that are outside our expertise, inappropriate, abusive or better handled by another organisation or professional.
Services and support requests
The website may allow you to enquire about services such as marriage, funerals, financial assistance, counselling, education, volunteering or support for new Muslims.
Submitting a form:
- does not guarantee that a service will be provided;
- does not create a contractual, professional or advisory relationship;
- does not confirm an appointment, booking or eligibility;
- does not guarantee a response within a particular timeframe; and
- does not guarantee that financial assistance or other support will be approved.
Requests may be assessed according to availability, urgency, eligibility, safeguarding considerations, available funding and the Centre’s policies.
In an emergency, you should contact the appropriate emergency service or relevant professional body rather than relying on a website submission.
Events, classes and programmes
Details of events, classes and community programmes may change at short notice.
We may:
- amend dates, times, speakers, teachers, venues or programme content;
- introduce attendance limits or eligibility requirements;
- refuse or cancel a registration where reasonably necessary;
- postpone or cancel an event or programme; or
- remove a person whose conduct is unsafe, disruptive, abusive or contrary to the Centre’s rules.
Submitting a registration or enquiry does not guarantee a place unless you receive confirmation from us.
Parents and guardians remain responsible for ensuring that activities are suitable for children in their care and for complying with any registration, collection, supervision or safeguarding requirements communicated by the Centre.
Additional terms may apply to particular events, courses, bookings or services. Where additional terms are provided, they will apply alongside these website terms.
Donations
Donations made through the website are voluntary contributions to Falkirk Islamic Centre.
You are responsible for:
- checking the donation amount before confirming payment;
- selecting the correct donation fund or purpose;
- providing accurate payment and contact information; and
- ensuring that you are authorised to use the chosen payment method.
Where a donation is described as being for a particular appeal, fund or purpose, we will aim to use it for that purpose. If this becomes impossible, impractical or the appeal receives more funds than required, we may use the donation for a closely related charitable purpose or for the Centre’s general charitable work, where permitted by law.
Unless otherwise stated, donations are not payments for goods or services.
Donation errors and refunds
Donations are generally final. However, if you believe a donation was made:
- in error;
- for the wrong amount;
- more than once because of a technical problem; or
- without the payment account holder’s permission,
please contact us as soon as possible.
Refund requests will be considered individually. Any refund is subject to applicable law, payment-provider rules and the duties of the Centre’s charity trustees. We cannot guarantee that every donation can be refunded.
We may refuse, return or redirect a donation where accepting or using it would be unlawful, contrary to the Centre’s charitable purposes, subject to an unacceptable condition or otherwise inappropriate.
Zakat and restricted donations
Where the website allows you to identify a donation as Zakat, Sadaqah, mosque funds or another specified category, you should select the appropriate category carefully.
We will take reasonable steps to administer restricted donations in accordance with the purpose stated on the donation page and the Centre’s applicable policies.
Information on the website about Zakat is general guidance only. You remain responsible for determining your own Zakat liability and should seek qualified advice where necessary.
Payment processing
Online payments may be processed by third-party payment providers.
We do not normally receive or store your complete debit-card, credit-card or payment-account details. Payment providers process this information under their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for interruptions, declined payments, delays or technical problems caused by a payment provider, bank or other third party outside our reasonable control.
Forms and information you submit
When you submit information through the website, you confirm that:
- the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- you have authority to provide it;
- it does not infringe another person’s rights; and
- it is not unlawful, threatening, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory or malicious.
Please do not submit highly sensitive information unless the form specifically asks for it and it is necessary for your request.
We may retain and use submitted information to manage your enquiry, provide services, maintain appropriate records, safeguard individuals and carry out the Centre’s charitable activities. Further information about how we handle personal information is provided in our Privacy Policy.
Children and young people
Some of the Centre’s activities and services are intended for children and young people.
Where a form requests information about a child, it should normally be completed by, or with the permission of, a parent, guardian or other authorised adult.
Children should not independently submit sensitive personal information, make donations or register for services requiring parental consent.
The Centre may request proof of parental responsibility, consent, age or identity where reasonably necessary.
Intellectual property
Unless otherwise stated, the website and its original content—including text, design, branding, graphics, photographs, videos, audio, downloads and software—belong to Falkirk Islamic Centre or are used with permission.
You may view, download or print reasonable extracts for personal, educational, religious or non-commercial community use, provided that:
- the content is not altered in a misleading way;
- Falkirk Islamic Centre is acknowledged where appropriate;
- copyright and attribution notices are retained; and
- the content is not sold, commercially exploited or presented as your own.
You must obtain our written permission before reproducing substantial parts of the website, using our logo or branding, or using our content for commercial purposes.
Some content may belong to third parties and may be subject to separate terms.
Photographs, recordings and media
The website may include photographs, videos or recordings from Centre events and activities.
We aim to use media responsibly and in accordance with applicable consent and safeguarding procedures.
If you believe an image or recording involving you or a child in your care has been published in error, please contact us with enough information to identify the content. We will review the request and take appropriate action.
You must not download, reuse or redistribute photographs or recordings in a way that infringes privacy, safeguarding or intellectual-property rights.
Links to other websites
This website may contain links to third-party websites, payment services, maps, videos, social-media platforms or other external resources.
These links are provided for convenience and information. We do not control third-party websites and do not necessarily endorse their content, services, security or privacy practices.
You access third-party websites at your own discretion and should review their applicable terms and privacy policies.
Website availability and security
We aim to keep the website available and secure, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be:
- available without interruption;
- free from errors or defects;
- compatible with every device or browser;
- completely secure; or
- free from viruses or other harmful material.
We may suspend, withdraw, restrict or change any part of the website for maintenance, security, operational or other reasons.
You are responsible for protecting your own device, software and data when using the internet.
Our responsibility
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility where doing so would be unlawful, including responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Subject to that, Falkirk Islamic Centre will not be responsible for losses resulting from:
- reliance on general website information;
- inaccurate or outdated prayer times, event details or announcements;
- the cancellation or alteration of an event, class or service;
- delays in responding to a form or enquiry;
- temporary website unavailability;
- third-party websites or services;
- unauthorised access caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control; or
- events beyond our reasonable control.
Where the law permits, we will not be responsible for indirect, consequential, business or commercial losses arising from use of this website.
Nothing in these terms affects any rights you may have under applicable law.
Privacy and cookies
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
The website may use cookies and similar technologies. Further details, including information about available choices and consent, are provided in our Cookie Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes to the website, our services, our practices or applicable law.
The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
Your continued use of the website after changes are published means that the updated terms will apply to your future use of the website.
Governing law
These terms and any dispute or claim arising from your use of the website are governed by the laws of Scotland.
The Scottish courts will have jurisdiction over disputes relating to these terms, although you may also have rights under the laws applicable where you live.
